Scabies

Article Abstract:

Case study is presented of a 30-year old man who was reported to have intense itching due to scabies, which is a common parasitic infection caused by the mite Sarcoptes scabiei. Treatments should be recommended on the basis of confirmed diagnosis while topical benzyl benzoate or oral ivermectin are considered good treatment options.

Noma - The ulcer of extreme poverty

Article Abstract:

The disease 'Noma' derived from Greek word 'nemo', meaning 'to graze' peaks at one to four years of age, although late stages occur in adolescents and adults. There are no accurate epidemiologic data as noma occurs predominantly in poor communities that do not keep health records and frequently have nomadic lifestyle.
