Issues are presented concerning the personnel management techniques being used by the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn, Norfolk, in response to the reduction in junior doctors's working hours. The responsibilities of nurses are discussed.

A survey of the United Kingdom's National Health Service in 1999 found bullying in the workplace to be a problem. The experience of one nurse who took her complaint up with management and was dealt with poorly is described.
