Tackling bullying within a team

Article Abstract:

Bullying and harassment, including verbal abuse, physical and sexual harassment, have existed for long in the NHS with nurses being subjected to different types of abuse in different situations. The human resources department should ensure that the staff member being bullied is given the right support at the right time, and a system of confidential appraisal of team leaders by employees helps in understanding whether management style is interpreted as bullying or harassment by employees.

Almost half of senior nurses want to quit

Article Abstract:

A new survey commissioned by RCN indicates that four out of ten ward sisters and modern matrons want to quit their jobs because they are understaffed and under pressure. A total of 82% claim that their role has changed in the past two years with patient care coming second to balancing clinical and management time, paperwork and achieving targets while 44% say that they would leave their current job if they could.

It is time to stop pretending the recruitment crisis has been solved

Article Abstract:

The main reason for the nurse's crisis of shortages is the high number of nurses leaving the profession since there are more jobs to tempt nurses away. Hence the trusts must have strong retention policies in place and should listen to staff to ensure that their concerns and ideas are heard and would influence policies.
