Target 2000

Article Abstract:

The World Health Assembly initiated the Polio Eradication Initiative (PEI) in 1988 with the goal of totally eradicating poliomyelitis by the year 2000. In 1995, nearly halfway through the program's timetable, it is evident that the PEI is succeeding, as cases continue to drop rapidly around the world.
