Teenage sex talk

Article Abstract:

The teenage conception rate in the UK has declined substantially since the mid-1970s, even though this issue continues to attract extensive media attention. Less attention is given to the fact that young people often do not have easy access to the information they require to manage their sexual health. Many teenagers are worried that their parents will be told if they request contraception, and many are not aware where their local sex advice centre is. However, the introduction of nurse-led services has significantly improved access to advice in some areas.

Talk - don't inject

Article Abstract:

A study of two London, England mental health community services has revealed community care may not meet patients' needs. About 140 schizophrenia patients and carers participated in interviews. Isolation proved a major problem as many knew little about available services. Most expressed the need for greater contact with social workers. Clients identified practical problems concerning accommodation, finance and employent. Many complained that psychiatrists had little time to talk. Consultations with different doctors also resulted in inconsistent treatment.

It's good to talk

Article Abstract:

Feedback can be an effective management tool, but inappropriate usage can be demoralizing and destructive. Effective feedback depends on the employee being aware of what management requires of them in their job. Other important aspects include appropriate timing of the feedback, ensuring that the motivation behind the feedback session is to improve performance, and choosing words and descriptions carefully to avoid a defensive reaction.
