Temporal changes in rates of stillbirth, neonatal and infant mortality among triplet gestations in the United States

Article Abstract:

A study to examine a rapid increase in the frequency of triplet births in the United States is illustrated and questions are raised whether they are in any way connected to the decline of stillbirth and neonatal and infant mortality. The results showed that aggressive obstetric intervention may be responsible for the increase in multiple births and the reduction in neonatal and infant mortality could be due to the early screening for anomalies and selective termination.
