Term neonatal asphyxial seizures and peripartum deaths lack of correlation with a rising cesarean delivery rate

Article Abstract:

The analysis aims to study the relationship between an increasing cesarean delivery rate and term neonatal seizures and peripartum deaths. It was found that despite a greater than 2-fold rise in cesarean section rate, seizure rate and overall peripartum death rate at term did not alter significantly.

Epidural analgesia need not increase operative delivery rates

Article Abstract:

Giving women in labor epidural painkillers will not necessarily lead to a cesarean delivery. This was the conclusion of researchers who found no increase in the cesarean delivery rate over a 3-year period during which the number of women receiving epidural painkillers increased from 10% to 57%.

Graphic analysis of actively managed labor: prospective computation of labor progress in 500 consecutive nulliparous women in spontaneous labor at term

Article Abstract:

Active management of labor shortens labor by shortening the latent phase during which cervical softening occurs relatively slowly. Active management is used to reduce labor times by artificially breaking fetal membranes and using drugs to soften the cervix.
