The association between pregnancy processes, preterm delivery, low birth weight, and postpartum depressions-The need for interdisciplinary integration

Article Abstract:

The multiple clinical and research disciplines that are concerned with the various aspects of pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum period are not conceptually and practically integrated. An interdisciplinary approach is required for better understanding of developmental processes and the development of measurements and interventions to prevent long-term impact on the offspring.

Comparison of early-onset neonatal sepsis caused by Escherichia coli and group B Streptococcus

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to compare maternal characteristics and neonatal morbidity and mortality rates that are associated with early-onset neonatal sepsis that is caused by group B Streptococcus and Escherichia coli. Early-onset sepsis with E Coli is associated with more morbidity and a higher mortality rate compared with early-onset group B Streptococcus.

Neonatal impact of elective repeat cesarean delivery at term: A comment on patient choice cesarean delivery

Article Abstract:

The objective of the study was to compare neonatal outcomes of term uncomplicated pregnancies delivered by scheduled repeat cesarean with outcomes of babies born to mothers intending to deliver vaginally. The decision to undergo scheduled cesarean delivery appears to negatively impact immediate neonatal outcomes.
