Article Abstract:

Businesses face tough consequences from breaching laws related to computer software. These consequences may include heavy fines, jail sentences for directors, and ruinous publicity. The Business Software Alliance (BSA) acts as an enforcement agency concerning information technology law. Major software companies, including Microsoft Corp., have given the BSA power of attorney and it can raid companies suspected of copyright infringements. The Initiative for Software Compliance, however, offers a programme which enables companies to operate best practices for legal compliancy.

Siggraph

Article Abstract:

The 1992 Siggraph exhibition in Chicago had a greater emphasis on realism in contrast to the 1991 exhibition in Las Vegas which featured special effects and virtual reality. The theme of the exhibition was interconnectivity, which was well reflected by Silicon Graphic's Reality Engine, a three-board set for the Crimson and Power series workstations. Visual reality was present but less striking.
