The efficacy of caries detection using three intraoral films under different processing conditions

Article Abstract:

Ektaspeed Plus film introduced by Eastman Kodak in 1994 appears to provide high-quality dental images while allowing dentists to reduce the dose of X-radiation to which the patient is exposed. This was demonstrated by researchers who evaluated an older version of the film called Ektaspeed and a newer version called Ultra-speed. Ektaspeed Plus produced high-quality images of tooth cavities even though it is twice as fast as the other films. This will allow dentists to reduce the patient's X-ray exposure by half.

Cervical root resorption

Article Abstract:

Cervical root resorption is difficult to diagnose. This tooth disease is characterized by destruction of the tooth root just below the gumline. It sometimes is a consequence of root canal or treatment for periodontal disease. However, its exact cause is unknown because it often occurs years later. It is believed to be an inflammatory or autoimmune process but the factors responsible are unknown. It can be mistaken for periodontal disease and is best seen on X-rays.

Success of an alternative for interim management of irreversible pulpitis

Article Abstract:

An investigation was made of pulpotomy, as an alternative interim therapy for treating irreversible pulpitis, in place of extraction and endodontic therapy. The interim treatment of eugenol pulpotomy using either restorative material reliably prevented pain for six months.
