The experience of living with a pressure ulcer

Article Abstract:

The study observes several cases of older people suffering from pressure ulcers to demonstrate how the pain associated with the pressure ulcers has a major and significant impact on the lives of patients. The investigation suggests that a proper pain assessment is required for the patients with pressure ulcers, as the ulcers and the endless pain associated with it has a lot of negative impact on the patient's life.

The use of a pressure ulcer risk assessment tool for children

Article Abstract:

The importance of pressure ulcer risk assessment in children, identifying risks that may cause children to develop pressure ulcers is described. A risk assessment tool is developed which provides a unified assessment checklist for all nurses to use to ensure that every child coming into hospital has his or her risk of developing pressure ulcers assessed and acted on.

Principles and limitations of pulse oximetry in patient monitoring

Article Abstract:

Pulse oximetry, used as a tool for monitoring oxygen saturation in arterial blood, works on the principle of Beers law, which states that, the concentration of any substance can be determined by the absorption of light. The limitations associated with pulse oximetry are pressure ulcers, burns, inaccurate readings and incorrect interpretation of data.
