Tirofiban and sirolimus-eluting stent vs. abciximab and bare-metal stent for acute myocardial infarction

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to evaluate the clinical and angiographic impact of single high dose bolus tirofiban plus sirolimus-eluting stenting vs abciximab plus bare-metal stenting in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). The result showed that tirofiban-supported sirolimus-eluting stenting of infarcted arteries holds promise for improving outcomes while limiting healthcare expenditure in patients with myocardial infarction undergoing primary intervention.

Effects of percutaneous coronary interventions in silent ischemia after myocardial infraction

Article Abstract:

Long term effect of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients with silent ischemia after myocardial infraction was studied in comparison with anti-ischemic drug therapy alone. PCI was found to be more beneficial than optimized drug therapy alone, in reducing long term risk of major cardiac events.
