Tooth avulsions resulting from basketball net entanglement

Article Abstract:

Young, unsupervised children attempting to slam-dunk a basketball into a lowered net may be at risk for having their teeth torn out or otherwise injured. Questionnaires were completed by dentists who treated 33 children who had had one or more teeth torn from their mouths. Nearly 94% of the patients' injuries happened while trying to slam-dunk a basketball, frequently by entangling their teeth into a net lowered by their parents. Nearly all of the patients were male with an average age of 12.3 years. Placing basketball nets out of face range and wearing mouth guards while playing basketball could lower the injury risk.

Huckleberry Finn meats Rastafarian Bob

Article Abstract:

Many different communities and cultures can be encountered when travelling the length of the Mississippi, which runs for 2,552 miles from northern Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico. At its source in Lake Itasca, the river is surrounded by white-pine forests, windy lakes and high bluffs. There are few settlements in that area, although there are some lumberjacks and hunters. The first large settlement is the Island Station Community between the Twin Cities of Minneapolis-St Paul. Here, the river widens to 100 ft and has a very strong current.

Images of Spain (that ain't necessarily so)

Article Abstract:

Madrid, Spain, is a city that exists between the past and the future. It carries the weight of Spain's history in its air, and all who wish to accomplish something there feel the resistance to break from the past. It also carries the architectural and technological symbols of European and global economic advances. All is possible in Spain, but it takes effort to leave the past behind while also appreciating it.
