Treating cancer by targeting a weakness

Article Abstract:

Research on antitumor drugs suggests that it is possible to achieve specificity without toxicity by adopting a new approach to targeting tumor cells. The role of poly-adenosine diphosphate-ribose polymerase 1 (PARP1) inhibitors in killing tumor cells in rats is discussed.

A discussion on whether terminally ill adult patients with cancer for whom there are no effective treatments have a constitutional right of access to investigational drugs the attending physicians might consider beneficial is presented.

A randomized trail of adjuvant chemotherapy with uracil-tegafur for adenocarcinoma of the lung

The study showing that adjuvant chemotherapy with uracil-tegafur has a beneficial effect on the survival of patients with resected stage one adenocarcinoma of the lungs, is presented.
