Article Abstract:
Guidance is given on basic health and safety for small businesses, a neglected sector in this context. There is multitude of legislation, which the small business must act upon. Often the small business does not even register with the authorities and cannot be inspected. Form-filling, inspections, documentation, displaying information for employees, sources of information, and available literature are discussed.

Harwell Laboratory's occupational health department is operating a new health care centre at Milton Park, near Didcot, in a link with Lansdown Estates. The occupational health care is offered on a corporate basis by subscriptions from organisations or individuals, and will help small businesses who are not able to afford the type of service usually.
