Update: influenza activity--United States, 2003-04 season

Article Abstract:

The 2003-2004 flu season in the US began in early October, 2003, and has occurred in 47 states as of December 6, 2003. The predominant virus is the influenza A (H3N2) virus group, and more specifically, the influenza A/Fujian/411/2002 virus. This virus and other (H3N2) influenza viruses often causes severe illness and even death.

Influenza Activity--United States and Worldwide, April-October 2000

Article Abstract:

Influenza cases in the Northern hemisphere were predominantly caused by influenza A(H1N1) and influenza B viruses. In the Southern hemisphere, influenza A(H1N1), A(H3N2), and B viruses predominated. Most of the viral strains would be covered by the 2000 influenza vaccine.

Influenza Activity-- United States, 2000-01 Season

Article Abstract:

As of January 13, 2001, influenza activity was moderate in the US but was increasing. Most of the viral strains were influenza A (H1N1) but about one fourth have been influenza B. Influenza A (H1N1) is covered by the 2000-2001 influenza vaccine.
