Use of alternative medicine by women with early-stage breast cancer

Article Abstract:

Many women with breast cancer may have psychological distress that prompts them to use alternative medicine. In a study of 480 breast cancer patients who had had surgery for early stage breast cancer, 28% of the women admitted using alternative medicine. Many had started using alternative medicine after they were diagnosed with breast cancer. These women reported a worse quality of life and were more likely to be depressed and be afraid that their cancer would recur.
