Use of anthelminthic drugs during pregnancy

Article Abstract:

The World Health Organization believes that all pregnant women in developing countries who have intestinal worm infections should be treated with anti-parasite drugs. Studies of these drugs have found no adverse effects on the fetus, although women may want to skip treatment during the first trimester. Hookworm and schistosomiasis are common in developing countries, and may harm unborn babies more than anti-parasite drugs do.

Use of oral decongestants during pregnancy and delivery outcome

Article Abstract:

A study to evaluate the delivery outcome after maternal use of oral decongestants was conducted. The results revealed that there were no tetratogenic effect of oral decongestants and the postulated association between pregnancy rhinitis and placental hormones could explain an association between the late pregnancy use of such drugs and favorable neotant outcome hypothetically.

Body mass, estrogen levels, and hot flashes in midlife women

Article Abstract:

A study aims to determine whether body mass index (BMI) is associated with hot flashes and whether the mechanism by which BMI increases the risk of hot flashes is by lowering estrogen levels. The results reveal that very obese women are at increased risk for hot flashes compared with normal weight women and estrogen levels might partly explain this relationship.
