Using a collaborative research utilization model to develop and test the effects of clinical pathways for pain management

Article Abstract:

A collaborative research utilization model has been used to develop and test effects of clinical pathways for pain management. A practical multidisciplinary approach has been used to study the prevailing research-to-practice gap in pain management. Patients whose caregiver used the pathways had less interference by pain in almost all quality-of-life indicators, less pain during their hospital stay, and more satisfaction with caregiver responsiveness to their pain.
