Win with team safety

Article Abstract:

Team efforts can contain a business enterprise's expenses on work-related injuries and disorders. GTE Florida Inc. adopted this team approach when it implemented a new set of cost-effective safety measures. As a result, both GTE's incident-prevention program and employee behavior toward safety has improved. GTE Florida Pres. Peter A. Daks devised a scheme that empowers each employee to take the necessary course of action during emergencies and gives all the firm's personnel equal responsibility for maintaining safety standards.

Build a safer construction site

Article Abstract:

A guide to building a safer construction site is presented. Construction is viewed as one of the most hazardous industries in the US. Its lost-workday injury rate is almost 70% higher than that for all private industries combined. The three types of construction activity are identified and a prescription for injury reduction is detailed. This includes applying injury statistics in planning site-safety programs.
