With friends like these...

Article Abstract:

Losing weight can bring out the worst in friends of the dieter. So-called friends will often sabotage dieting efforts by expressing negative opinions, such as disagreeing with the need for a diet or telling the dieter that they'll never lose weight. Skinny and gung-ho friends can also hurt efforts.
