Article Abstract:

The Pepsi-Cola Co's Pepsi School Challenge has been proven successful in keeping inner-city students in school. The program has shown outstanding results at L.G. Pinkston High School in Dallas, TX and at Southwestern High School in Detroit, MN. Due to the Pepsi School Challenge these schools have loswered their dropout rates by as much as one-third. Through a combination of financial incentives and student mentoring, the program encourages students to continue on to college, vocational school or skills training program.
