Technology policy between 'diversity' and 'one best practice' - a comparison of Korean and German production schemes for new production technologies

Article Abstract:

A study aimed at comparing the German and South Korean promotion schemes for new production technologies has shown that a suitable technology policy has to consider the individual national system of innovation. The impetus of the study came from a desire to examine the general idea that policy makers in all industrialized countries are orienting their science and technology policy towards foreign patterns and that "one best practice" is being applied by all nations to be globally competitive.

Indigenous development and acquisition of technology: an Indian perspective

Article Abstract:

India has adopted a two-pronged technological-economy policy aimed at enhancing its international competitiveness. The first stage of the policy involves the creation of a business climate which encourages indigenous technology development. The second stage focuses on acquiring new technology from other countries. One key feature of the second stage is its emphasis on importing finished products, instead of technology, to allow Indian companies to acquire tried and tested technologies.
