Guadeloupe is in the eastern Caribbean

Article Abstract:

Guadeloupe began using French stamps in 1947, when it became a department of France. The first post-European-contact stamps issued by the country was in 1876. Its history, which includes the importation and forced servitude of African people, its geography and demography are discussed.

John J. Audubon: naturalist & artist

Article Abstract:

On Feb 25, 1995 France issued four stamps and a souvenir sheet honoring Audubon. The designs were from his paintings of pigeon, egret, tern and buzzard. The year 1985 was the bicentennial of his birth. Fifty countries issued stamps and souvenir sheets in his honor at that time.
