Fluorite

Article Abstract:

Fluorite is a transparent-to-opaque mineral with a glassy luster. It can be of practically any color, orange being the least common. A large number of Illinois mines are rich with fluorite.

The most colorful, lustrous and fluorescent specimens of fluorite are found in Weardale, Cumberland, England. Other places where significant deposits of the mineral can be found are listed.
