Rocket mail flight honored Robert H. Goddard

Article Abstract:

Two 12-foot rockets were shot off to honor Goddard, the rocket pioneer. Each rocket carried payloads of 800 special covers and 200 postcards. Mrs. Goddard pressed the firing button. After two mishaps, the mail was launched and successfully retrieved. It was then mailed out from Roswell, NM.

China's city of Cathay is honored with stamps

Article Abstract:

On Dec 27, 1995, the Caribbean nation of Dominica honored one of China's fabled cities, Cathay. Ten horizontal stamps and a souvenir sheet were released. A brief history of the Sung and Ching dynasties is recounted. The design features drawings of 14 panels from an 18th century handscroll.
