The chairman of the FAI R/C Racing Committee describes how the competition transcended into a world-class racing event. The FAI pylon racing flourished due to the committee members' willingness to modify the competition's rules. American participation also increased as a result of this.

The sport of radio-controlled airplanes owes mush to pioneers such as Clinton DeSoto, Chester Lanzo, and Bill Good. DeSotos's experiments with radio in the 1930s have made possible developments and refinements in the hobby as it is known in the 1990s.
