More than just a sale

Article Abstract:

Printed-circuit-board (PCB) assembly equipment manufacturer are facing greater pressure for customer service. In order to better understand the factors that please and displease customers, 10 members of the Surface Mount Equipment Manufacturers Association participated in the Satisfied Customer Project run by Technology Forecasters in 1996. The study found that category that ranked lowest in satisfaction with the seven customers studied was the availability and reasonable price of spare parts. Electronic Business Today interviewed contract manufacturers and found that fair pricing, quick delivery, and availability of spare parts were important factors to them, but that pre-sale efforts and strong post-sale service and support were the factors that lead to long-term healthy relationships.
