Dark days for Sweden?

Article Abstract:

The Swedish economy is on the verge of an unprecedented resurgence but many of the country's business leaders are voicing concerns about the number of local companies that are now owned by foreign interests. The country's economic performance, one of the best in Europe, is being overshadowed by concerns that the acquisition of its major industrial institutions by foreign-owned corporations will have long-term disastrous repercussions to its global competitiveness. The acquisition of the country's major companies, the latest of which includes Volvo Car Corporation's purchase by Ford Motor Co, and the subsequent relocation of the firm's headquarters to foreign locations, has led to renewed criticisms about Sweden's existing labor and tax regulations.

Cross the Channel forearmed

Article Abstract:

It is easy for foreign conrtractors to enter the French market but electrical contractors must be aware of inspection requirements and employment regulations. All installations have to be inspected and a certificate of approval from an independent bureau must be obtained. Foreign employers must conform to conditions and wage awards agreed collectively within the industry. They should not employ workers illegally and should beware of subcontractors' employment practices.
