High country gardens: success in the southwest

Article Abstract:

David Salman established Santa Fe Greenhouses, Inc., a retail nursery specializing in native plants for western gardens, in response to the shortage of nurseries selling plants suitable for cool mountain climates. In 1993, Salman opened High Country Gardens, a mail-order business which has become a leading catalogue nursery for gardeners interested in introducing western plants into their gardens.

Ozone damage to plants

Article Abstract:

Increased amounts of ground-level ozone pollution may pose a risk to many different plants. Ozone is absorbed through the leaves of the plant and can inhibit growth, lower crop yields, and sometimes result in the death of the plant. Ozone pollution occurs when nitrous oxides and hydrocarbons in the atmosphere react with ultraviolet light.
