How to move a large shrub

Some shrubs and small trees can be transplanted, but information on the specific species should be checked before attempting a move. Root pruning in advance will make the job easier. Instructions for digging, wrapping the root ball, preparing the new hole, and replanting are given.

New life for old yews: even the most neglected specimens will respond to careful shaping

Article Abstract:

Yews have great endurance when they are either transplanted or denied proper maintenance. To restore a yew, it is important to prune its branches to maintain its natural V-shape. This requires a sharp pruning saw because the wood of yews is thick and 'close-grained.'
