Letter from California

Article Abstract:

A humorous look at naming trees is presented. One was called the Chrome Dome Magnolia. It was named after a high school English teacher who decided to tell his students one day how much he hated them and teaching Shakespeare. He left during the middle of a class and never returned.

Article Abstract:

Third-graders had no problem in using copper strips to protect their lettuce and cabbage or a pan of beer to discourage or trap snails. Even the option of cooking and eating them was well-received.
