It's not Kansas, Toto

Article Abstract:

Change has been the cornerstone of the home center business, as products constantly are innovated. Such things as latex paints and fiberglass tool handles are part of the process of change. While some hardware store operators choose to stick to selling hardware only, there is little doubt that those that are reluctant to change may not survive. Those that will survive are adding services such as rentals, and offering such things as pagers to their merchandise mix.
