Poison Ivy

Article Abstract:

Poison Ivy is a vine that is easily identified by its trademark of three green leaves. The plant is notorious for its toxic oily secretions that can cause skin irritations in most people who come in contact with it. It grows throughout the year and is a common nuisance to gardeners everywhere.

Compost-based potting soils: a plant propagator offers environmentally sound alternatives to peat-based blends

Article Abstract:

The head of the New England Wild Flower Society in Framingham, MA searched for alternatives to the peat moss used in the potting soils at the botanical gardens. The moss had to come from Canada. One of the mixes created was local compost with a small amount of vermiculite and perlite.
