The northern plains and Prairies

Article Abstract:

Extreme weather conditions and strong winds in Upper Midwest and a portion of Illinois urge a need for understanding how native plants have adapted to the area's tough growing conditions over the years, while creating a habitat garden. A multitude of native flowers that weave through Prairie grasses could be used to support structures and keep flower stems upright when strong winds scour the plains.
