The context of modern idiomatic expressions or colloquialisms such as a flash in the pan, to sell like hot cakes and barking up the wrong tree emerged from early American life. These expressions depicted the farming and ranching lifestyle and experiences relevant to the early American settlers.

Early New England gravestones

Granville, MA's fine artistic relics include 16th to 17th century gravestones that were styled intricately. Varying patterns, concepts and materials were applied and used by craftsmen who lived during the period. These artifacts are now under scientific refinement procedures.
