Dorel swallows Okla Homer Smith

Article Abstract:

Dorel Industries of Montreal, Quebec, has purchased Okla Homer Smith of Fort Smith, AZ, a maker of dressers and wood cribs, for $7.25 million in late August 1998. Dorel, Canada biggest furniture manufacturer with 1997 revenues of C$531.7 million, is incorporating its newly acquired company into Cosco, its main juvenile unit and the top marketer of metal cribs in North America. Cosco's president, Nick Costides, sees the addition of US wood crib maker as a logical expansion of his company's business.

AFMA sets Sept. workshop on Canada customs

The American Furniture Manufacturers Association will conduct a one-day workshop on Canadian customs requirements on September 25, 2003. The workshop is for furniture makers who plan to export products to Canada.

DuPont to buy all DuPont Canada stock for C$1.4B

DuPont will acquire the remaining shares of DuPont Canada that it does not already own for 1.4 billion Canadian dollars. DuPont currently owns 76% of DuPont Canada.
