Firing an employee who has devoted much of his time and talent and has defended capitalism illustrates the character of a company and unveils the uncivil environment embracing the world of capitalism. This painful experience, however, could be healed by a dignified retirement which is already being enjoyed by so many people. Moreover, downsizing could be a threat to capitalism by depriving it of market opportunities.
