Annual hours: an idea whose time has come

Article Abstract:

Some industries are seeking new methods for planning their workers' hours on a yearly basis. A new technique for the organization of work time may generate significant advantages to companies. Some of the advantages of calculating employee work hours under a yearly formula include: having more workers available during the busy season; segregating worker hours from manufacturing hours; and implementing change through the use of annual hours for the planning of worker schedules.

Slackening in executive demand

Article Abstract:

The demand for executives in Great Britain has fallen back from its all-time high in early 1985. Although the demand for executives is increasing, it is doing so at a much slower speed. While executive demand has dropped dramatically in the high technology industries, it has had a steady increase in the energy and retailing industries. The analysis of Britain's demand for executives is based on the number of advertisements for executives.

Life after pay policy

Article Abstract:

Job evaluation systems were revised in Great Britain once new equal pay and equal work rules were implemented. While inflation averaged roughly 12 percent each year during the 1970s, a 27 percent rate was recorded in 1975, resulting in even greater wage erosion. A study is made of pay-systems for the longest wages policy-free period over two decades.
