Business continuity

Article Abstract:

Business Continuity Institute, a professional body for business continuity planning (BCP) defines BCP as an act of anticipating incidents that would affect critical functions and processes for the organization, ensuring that the organization responds to any incident in a planned and the rehearsed manner. A BCP model is presented that consists of 5 main steps that include understanding business, continuity strategies, plan development, plan implementation and plan maintenance and testing.

Covering the unexpected

Article Abstract:

The Employers' Liability (Compulsory Insurance) Act, 1969 (ELCI), requires every employer carrying on business in the UK to insure and maintain insurance against liability for bodily injury or disease sustained by his or her employees and arising out of and in the course of their employment in UK in that business. The object of the Act was to ensure that an employer who had a claim brought against him would be able to pay any damages awarded by the courts to the injured employee.

Heavy metals: the health problems

Article Abstract:

The adverse effects of some of the heavy metals such as antimony, cadmium, chromium, copper, lead, mercury, nickel and selenium on health and the environment are discussed. Guidelines that would help people in identifying the hazards and managing the risks are also given.
