Competitiveness inside EMU

Article Abstract:

Europe's aspirations of establishing a single currency market is not far from being realized as countries gear for the final phase of the European Monetary Union. Although EMU promises a more stable exchange rate and well-grounded price transparency, it may spell trouble to European companies. One of the major risks EMU members would have to face is market competitiveness as labour-force productivity is anticipated to be more complex. Such a challenge can only be overcome by fostering cooperation among members.

Pan-European pension investment - the art of the possible

Article Abstract:

Pension financing and structure differs in every European country. Corporate pension managers are considering an agreement among the EC countries to create a centralized system to finance retirement benefits. The creation of a single international investment management firm, making the EC a single business sector, would provide a more efficient way to finance pension funds and improve the management and control of investments.
