Article Abstract:

A site-specific risk assessment is conducted to determine if land is contaminated or not, and methods that can be employed to clean up and manage these sites are observed. The possibility of civil court actions being taken against environmental consultants who have undertaken contaminated land surveys is highlighted.

The International Commission on Radiological Protection has established safety standards when working with ionizing radiation. Over 50,000 medical and 10,000 dental workers and 10,000 university researchers in the UK are at potential risk when working with radionuclides.
