Evaluating the human resource shared services model: evidence from the NHS

Article Abstract:

An examination of the human resource services shared (HRSS) model of four National Health Services Organizations, namely the Calderdale Primary Care Trust (PCT), North Kirkless PCT, Huddersfield Central PCT, and South Huddersfield PCT is presented. It was found that all aspects of human resources are being shared by these organizations, including transformational agenda, and that the HRSS model do not separate strategic from transactional work. The advantages of the HRSS model, and its significance in the human resource staff's work ecperience are discussed.

In search of sustained competitive advantage: the impact of organizational culture, competitive strategy and human resource management practices on firm performance

Article Abstract:

The direct and interactive effects of high-performance human resource (HPHR) practices and organizational culture on firm performance are tested, with the help of matched data from senior executives and human resource managers. Though the HPHR practices were not an important influence on performance, the findings indicate that organizational culture could be a valuable resource for companies.

The dimensionality and determinants of pay satisfaction: a cross-cultural investigation of a group incentive plan

Article Abstract:

Cross-cultural comparisons using data collected from multinational firm employees in US and Hong Kong to investigate group insurance as a distinct dimension of pay satisfaction is presented. The study shows that the national culture is found to have direct and moderating effects on pay satisfaction.
