Human resources in the German maritime industries: 'back-sourcing' and ship management

Article Abstract:

The role of national tax system in the consolidation and revitalization of strategic HRM in the German shipping industry, with management functions being outsourced is presented. The study reveals that the new shipping, tax and HRM policy of the German government enables firms in reversing a trend towards outsourcing management functions to overseas locations.

From London to Los Angeles: a comparison of local labour market processes in the US and UK film industries

Article Abstract:

The process of finding employment in the film industry within two labor markets of London (UK) and Los Angeles (US) is presented. It is concluded that the analysis confirms that the importance of social networks in job mobility in both contexts is a consequence of common production structures.
