Internet odysseys: linking web roles to career and community investments

Article Abstract:

A new kind of career odyssey, namely that into the relatively uncharted territory of the world wide web is examined. The results of a research project to categorize web-enabled work roles for MBA students and to compare their career investments to those of practitioners already immersed in web-enabled employment settings are presented.

The emergence of career boundaries in unbounded industries: career odysseys in the Italian New Economy

Article Abstract:

A research is conducted to study competence-based and relation-based boundaries, the major kind of boundaries to the boundaryless career. Further, dominant individual career logics are identified and different career logics are connected to the boundaries career concept.

'Free actors' and organizations: critical remarks about the new career literature, based on French insights

Article Abstract:

The difference between the reality of careers in France and assumptions of the new literature are presented. The view of an evolution towards a 'free actor', the one who relies more on internal disposition than on external clues is challenged.
