Leading the education function into the future

Article Abstract:

The paper discusses four approaches to managing the learning function needed in the knowledge economy, baselining and benchmarking, new organization structures, strategic outsourcing, and e-learning. These approaches require that learning professionals handle their function differently than in the past, particularly in the recognition that learning is an entity to be managed. Initiating the management of learning involves determining what training programs are available, their costs and their effectiveness.
