Middle mangers: alive and well

Article Abstract:

Research conducted by Management Recruiters International (the largest recruiting firm in the U.S., placing approximately 25,000 managers each year) indicates that there are 28 million middle managers in the U.S., and only 2.5 percent of this group is unemployed. Also, outplacement statistics indicate that 85 percent of middle managers who have been laid off from work find new jobs within six months. A survey of corporate executives, conducted by Management Recruiters, found that 35.3 percent of the executives are planning to increase their mid-level management ranks, 51.4 percent plan to keep their middle manager staffing levels constant, and 12.3 percent plan to reduce the number of middle managers. When laid off, middle mangers frequently find new employment at higher levels in smaller organizations.

Have the roles of Hitler and Stalin been exaggerated?

Article Abstract:

Joseph Stalin and Adolph Hitler were not merely creatures of the social, economic and political conditions that existed in their respective countries, and their political wills should be held accountable for the atrocities that occurred during their reigns. Some scholars have preferred to focus on societal and demographic factors, but the influence of strong leaders on history should not be denied. In particular, Stalin and Hitler ruled based on power vested in themselves and not merely in power that came with the offices they held.

The good loser

Article Abstract:

Dole has settled well into the unique public position of 'The Good Loser.' Seemingly he has no critics from the press or political arena. His fighting GOP partisan side has been submerged under his conciliatory side. This enables him to use to the optimum, the powers that he has left.
