Pensions financing

Article Abstract:

Pension contributions of Swedish companies are expected to increase from around SKr250 bil in capital under management to SKr900 bil in the next 10 to 15 years, as a result of the changes in the Swedish pension system. Changes in Sweden's blue-collar and the white-collar workers' pension plans, are likely to affect companies. Two decisions focused on employer pension contributions are corporate pensions trust to fund the ITP plan and the new standards to calculate pension liabilities.

Belgian second-pillar pensions - where no man has gone before

Article Abstract:

The Belgian government plans to give an additional boost to second-pillar pension plans by cutting the number of pensioners who retire before the ordinary retirement age for social security, organizing these plans on an industry-wide basis and only permitting individual pension promises in firms with an existing pension plan for all staff. It is anticipated that this legislation will come into effect on Jan 01, 2002.

Maxwell: the pensions legacy

Article Abstract:

Publisher Robert Maxwell's death allowed investigators to discover his penchant for plundering his employee's pension funds. This discovery reflected the lack of a formal mechanism to enable assets belonging to pension fund trustees to be identified as such in the UK pensions structure. There is a need for an overhaul of the pensions structure and the establishment of an appropriate regulatory framework.
