Real estate guidelines standardize information

Article Abstract:

Decisions about real estate investment has been a private activity such that regulations and information about this type of investment are difficult to evaluate. The Real Estate Information Standards will provide consistent information, definitions and calculations in estimating valuations. This is a joint project of the National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries, the Pension Real Estate Assn. and the National Assn. of Real Estate Investment Managers.

Mid-cap growth strategy uses bottom-up research

Alliance Capital Exec. VP and intermediate capitalization portfolio manager Alden M. Stewart says that reasonably-priced companies with high potential growth rates are viable investments for pension plan sponsors. He also advocates a mid-cap growth strategy, claiming the large companies have limited growth rates which are dependent on the economy and are often overanalyzed by Wall Street.
