Article Abstract:

The author argues that the campaign has successfully highlighted the need for core labor standards, but needs to broaden its base to include development-related demands, increase union involvement from developing countries, and increase membership mobilization to complement lobbying and political activity.

How creative tactics help labor win first contracts

Article Abstract:

The example of Chicago, IL, psychologists who formed a union and campaigned to win a labor agreement shows how first contracts can be made. Success can be assured when the membership is involved, a campaign establishes a union's legitimacy, plans are made to continue involvement after an agreement is signed, and there is potential for developing union leaders from the membership.
